Why Portfolio Photos Matter More Than Service Descriptions

Choosing a salon is a highly visual decision. Real photos of actual client results build more confidence than any description of technique or service.

Real client results, not stock imagery

Stock photography of generic hairstyles tells a potential client nothing about what your specific stylists actually produce. Real, current client photos are what a visually-driven decision like this genuinely requires.

Variety across styles and services

A portfolio showing only one style or technique undersells the breadth of what a salon actually offers, and may cause a visitor looking for something different to assume it's not available here.

Before/after context where relevant

For colour correction, extensions, or significant transformations, showing the starting point alongside the result demonstrates genuine skill in a way a single "after" photo can't — and builds confidence for clients considering a similar change.

Consistent quality across the whole gallery

A handful of excellent photos surrounded by poorly lit or low-resolution ones drags down the overall impression. A smaller, consistently high-quality gallery outperforms a larger, uneven one.

Recent work, not years-old photos

Styles and trends move quickly in this category. A portfolio that hasn't been updated recently can make a salon look out of touch, even if current work is genuinely excellent — recency itself is part of the trust signal.
